there goes 2007

And with this announcement, the Chicago Cubs 2007 season is probably flushed down the toilet. Lou Piniella is basically a whiter, older, louder, in-your-face version of Dusty Baker. They're even saying he might bring back much of the coaching staff, including Rothschild, which means our young pitchers continue to be doomed. The only good thing about this announcement that I can find is that A-Rod likes Lou, so maybe we'll be able to get him in a trade. That would fill the giant sucking sound you hear coming from the shortstop position.

Crap.

  1. that, isn't it more fun to do so in a fiery, Piniella-fueled plane crash than with a dull 2006 Cubs-style whimper?

Piniella + rebuilding and young teams = awesomeness. But as you know, I'm a Cardinals fan.

    Hey look, game 7....

  2. You know, if I had any faith in Jim Hendry as GM, Piniella might not be so bad. But since Hendry signed Glendon "Donut" Rusch and Neifi "not a 2-hitter" Perez to $2 million contracts and was relying on Mark "I can throw a towel" Prior and Kerry "I'm made of glass" Wood to be in the rotation this year, I can't say as I have much faith in Jim Hendry.

Good luck to your Cards in game 7. I'm not rooting for them (in fact I'm rooting against them), but for your sake I hope they win. How about that So Taguchi, huh?
