audio archives removed

As an aside, I occasionally get email asking where the audio archives of my radio show went. Well, I took them down for liability reasons. I'm still archiving them; I just can't make them downloadable. If you're really interested, feel free to email me and we can work something out - maybe I'll burn a CD or DVD of archived shows in mp3 format and mail them out at cost.

sorry for the downtime

I upgraded the operating system on this box, and of course it borked both my email configuration and the webserver. Expect the site to go up and down a bit over the next week or so as I tweak settings.

Server failure

In a classic example of failing to practice what you preach, the hard drive on my server at home failed catastrophically, and the last backup I made dates back to May 13th of this year. Fortunately, all I've really lost are some webpages (mostly playlists, let's be honest - I haven't updated this site with very much real content in a long time) and some emails, and I've been in the process of deprecating the @falsecognate.org emails for a while now. In addition, all my really important data resides on different computers and hard drives, all of which are backed up multiple times.

In any case, I expect that there will be further interruptions in uptime in the near future. I'll try to keep those to a minimum.

spring cleaning

Well, as you can see, I'm beginning a redesign. The front page is mostly complete, but I have a lot of work to do on the individual entry pages and all the other sub-pages of the site. I hope to redo the directory structure as well. Comments are welcome; let me know what you think. And speaking of comments, supposedly you should now be able to sign in using OpenID. Any of you LJ'ers want to test it out?

comment spam

Well, it looks like the comment spam problems are getting worse. If it keeps up, I'm probably going to require TypeKey authentication. Just so you know.
