Do I need that Encore album?
What else is good?
I'm not feeling Vast's shit at all...heard a bunch of it in the store the other day.
Bought a gang of 12"s, if I ever listen to all of them I'll try to drop some impressions here.
The Encore album is good. Do you need it? I don't know. It's pretty consistent throughout, but none of the tracks is drop-whatever-you're-doing-gotta-listen-to-this-track-now level of hotness. Guest appearances are kept to a minimum, and the ones that do appear are pretty good. And the artwork was done by a friend of mine (fwmj; ohsonappy.com).
have u heard of bushwick bill? i don't want to make any conclusions based on his stature.
this CD cover says the CD was recorded in houston.

Bushwick Bill was part of the Geto Boys, the legendary gangsta rap crew out of 5th ward here in Houston whose most successful member is probably Scarface. His solo stuff is all right, but will never be regarded as classic material.
Bushwick Bill is the fuckin man, and the key to the greatest album cover ever: http://www.artistdirect.com/Images/Sources/AMGCOVERS/music/cover200/drc400/c491/c49130q5dym.jpg
Dennis, i'd love the Encore album if you got another copy.
Got Ghostface today...sounds pretty dope.
the ghostface is nice. waaaaaay too many skits though.
also copped advance copies of soul survivor II and gift of gab's "fourth dimensional rocketships going up". both are lukewarm, but i'll wait for the retail to make a final opinion.
Hey, at least Ghost bothered to list the correct songs on the album in the correct order. Some heads are still tripping over which tracks are which on the old Genius Liquid Swords album.
I had no idea Soul Survivor 2 was dropping already.
Gab is sick, but I haven't felt the last couple Blackalicious albums too much, so I wasn't gonna check for this unless I heard it was amazing from many sources.
Look DL, your blog is booming tonight!
bushwick bill's "ever so clear" has been compared to kanye west's "through the wire". i downloaded the song, and though the production/lyrics won't win any awards, there is something compelling about this level of diaristic honesty. it's much more interesting than the standard impersonal braggadocio. and there is a moment of dark humor that made me laugh, when he goes (after threatening his girlfriend that he'd shoot her unless she shot him): "damn... you shot me in the eye... why'd you shoot me in the eye? i would have at least shot you in the body..."
