Grandmaster Flash w/ Ceeplus, DJ Jester the Filipino Fist

@ MFAH

This event is the closing event of the Beats of Basquiat series at the MFAH.

One of the early pioneers of turntablism, Grandmaster Flash is one of the most revered figures in hip-hop. He is also a contemporary of Basquiat, so from an academic standpoint, this should be interesting, as the late disco and early hip-hop eras which Flash owned are regarded as influences on the works of Basquiat.

DJ Jester the Filipino Fist will also be performing - this guy can really rock a party, assuming the crowd is old enought to actually remember some of the songs he plays. He tends to play pop, rock, and country hits of the last twenty or so years with a hip-hop breakbeat underneath. Definitely one of the most fun DJs I've ever seen.
