Alan Licht and Loren Connors

@ Live Oak Friends Meeting House, 1318 W. 26th St.

The Deep Listening Institute, formerly the Pauline Oliveros Foundation, presents this concert of experimental guitar improvisation. The real news here (at least for me) is that the concert is being held at the Houston meeting house of the Society of Friends, aka the Quakers. The Live Oak meeting house was designed by artist James Turrell and features a retractable skylight that does some kind of funky thing with the sunset that's supposed to be really cool. You can come see the sunset at 5:55 before the concert, and also experience a Quaker "service" which I believe consists mostly of people being really quiet.
