His Name Is Alive w/ Nomo

@ Proletariat

This is a sleeper show of Michigan acts; it should be really, really good, although it starts early. His Name Is Alive have been around for a long time; the former 4AD band are touring in support of a new album. Warn Defever (one of the mainstays of the band) has also been recording and producing for other bands such as Grenadine, Godzuki, and the opening band on this bill, Nomo.

Nomo are a new Ubiquity signing; they are, for lack of a better characterization, an experimental afro-funk-soul band. A lot of their stuff sounds quite similar to Antibalas, however, the instrumentation used is significantly weirder, consisting often of made/found instruments alongside the standard instrumentation. They are touring in support of their first album on Ubiquity (second album released) entitled "New Tones."
