Noise and Smoke Festival Day 1

@ Notsuoh

This 2-day festival of largely Houston bands actually has a pretty stellar lineup. Day 1 features Ume, The Ka-Nives, Satin Hooks, Bring Back The Guns, Jana Hunter and more. Ume is one of my favorite Texas bands; this loud and aggressive trio is reminiscent of early Sonic Youth. They're worth catching live; it's hard to replicate the full 'wall of sound' effect at home. The Ka-Nives also put on a hell of a live show - sloppy, loud, energetic, and fueled by mass quantities of alcohol. Awesome.

The show starts early, but with the extended lineup, will probably last until midnight. You can get more information at http://myspace.com/noiseandsmoke
