Urban Audio Assault is a little pet project of mine that I've been running for over five years now. It took me three years of living in Houston to realize that there was actually some cool shit here. So I decided to let everyone that I knew in on the secret. It didn't hurt that I was busy self-promoting my own gigs as a DJ...

Over time it has expanded to include album reviews, art openings, and a drink of the week along with the upcoming shows section that started the whole thing. I write it because it is entertaining for me to do; I hope you find it useful, or at the very least fun to read.

Anyway, I'm now in the progress of migrating everything over to the web. I still plan on sending the list out via email every Thursday or Friday, but I expect that the web version will be the one that is most up to date. The additional functionality (calendar views, lists by venue, etc.) look pretty good so far, and I'll also be bringing on some additional writers. If you want to sign up for the email version, please contact me by adding a comment to any entry, and I'll sign you up for the mailing list.

I do spend a good chunk of time working on this project, so I would appreciate it if you don't go and plagiarize the work. If you want to reprint anything you see here, please drop me a line (see the contact page) and ask first. I've explicitly licensed most of the content here under a Creative Commons license (click on the link in the sidebar for more information), but essentially, the terms are this: you are generally free to use the information here without contacting me for non-commercial purposes so long as you attribute the work (to this site) and so long as your derived work is also under a license matching these terms. If these terms don't work for you (you run a commercial site, magazine, etc.) contact me and we'll see what we can work out.

Please see the policies on usage, submissions, and comments.
