The Engine Room is one of the few midsize venues in Houston. Housed in an old warehouse space at the south end of downtown, the club is basically one large box. There's a full service bar along one side, with booths on the other side and a few tables near the back. There is a small room used for merch tables that has a few arcade games as well. Capacity is officially around 600, but you could probably fit 1000 into the room. The slogan of the club is "Built for Sound" and indeed, they have a very impressive sound system. Unfortunately, depending on who's actually running the board, the sound can be either spot on or really bad. Either way, bring earplugs - it's loud.

- Parking: There's generally a fair amount of streetside parking in this neighborhood, especially if you're willing to walk a block or two. I believe that they do have a pay parking lot in the back of the venue, though.
